How to Market and Protect Your New Ideas

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Neil Armand The intellectual property transfer market is now estimated to be worth over $100 billion. If you have a new idea, a patent or an invention, you may be able to license it or sell it for millions of dollars. Many Fortune 500 companies are now making their intellectual property available for sale or licensing at new online intellectual-property exchanges. These companies are trying to maximize their return on research and development investment and generate a new source of revenue by licensing their unused and underutilized inventions to others. A number of online forums, including Minnesota-based NewIdeaTrade.com (http://www.newideatrade.com), California-based Pl-x.com (http://www.pl-x.com), and Connecticut-based PatentTriage.com (http://www.patenttriage.com) now link buyers and sellers of intellectual property. The traditional transfer of intellectual property is complicated, costly, and can take up to one year. However, these online forums simplify and speed up the process for transfer of new ideas. The Internet currently reaches more than 560 million users around the world. This makes innovators potential for exposure much higher than with traditional forms of media. The worldwide online commerce has reached $2.2 trillion in 2002 and is expected to reach $6.8 trillion by 2004. The innovators today can leverage the massive reach of the Internet and promote their new ideas to the global market without substantial marketing costs. Official copyright registration and patent rights can be obtained from appropriate authorities. A directory of Patent and Copyright Offices around the world is available at http://www.newideatrade.com/government_patent_copyright_offices.htm. When a potential buyer contacts the seller for more information about the intellectual property, the seller should require the buyer to sign a non-disclosure agreement before revealing the details. Avoid Problems When Planning Your Wedding

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By Roman Zazulak Your wedding day is usually one of the biggest days of your life and since so much importance is placed on this day, lots of planning and expense goes into making sure it goes smoothly and perfectly. However, planning a wedding can be a stressful ordeal, ultimately causing many problems. Following are some tips on planning your wedding without the stress and problems. It is important that your wedding day is what you and your spouse want it to be. Many times a bride or groom will be unsatisfied and unhappy, causing problems, because the wedding goes against their likes or wishes. Make sure you communicate with your spouse to understand what kind of wedding they would be most happy with. While others might be paying for a wedding, ultimately it is the bride and grooms day. Budgeting for your wedding day is extremely important. With weddings that cost 20K to 40K common, it is extremely easy to start your marriage off already in debt. Determine beforehand how much you want to spend on a wedding and communicate with your parents and other family member on how much they can afford to give. Create a budget to keep costs under control. While it is a goal for most brides and grooms to make sure all their guests had a great time at their wedding, ultimately planning your wedding will be your first test in fiscal responsibility. Another problem you can help avoid is family issues. Sometimes others want to have a say in your big day and for most couples that is fine, however if a line has been crossed or if the bride or groom feels uncomfortable, the best way to head off problems is to communicate with the family in a respectful manner. If you are looking to plan your wedding day with as little stress and problems as possible, take a look at the above tips on avoiding these common wedding planning problems. In his quest for finding the perfect wife, Roman tried every method imaginable until he finally got married to Gigi in 2004. Sun Tan

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By Ross Bainbridge Suntan means browning the skin by exposing the body to ultraviolet radiation of the sun. This color change of the skin is due to the release of the pigment called melanin into the skin’s cells. Melanin is produced by melanocytes and it protects the body from absorbing excess solar radiation. People sun tan today for a variety of reasons — to counter depression, to improve physical beauty and sexual attractiveness, and to improve the health of the skin. Recent studies have estimated that over 22 million Americans suntan every year. When someone gets a suntan, the color of the skin changes when the rays of the sun damage the dead cells found in the skin. An ideal tanning session should not last too long, as overexposure to the sun may lead to melanoma and other damages. Eyes can be damaged if proper sunglasses are not used. To overcome these problems, various products are now available, and they produce the same result as a suntan without exposing the body to the sun, and potential damage. Certain precautions must be taken before tanning. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can cause sunburns and rashes, thus being a concern when tanning naturally. Sunburns have been linked to the development of skin cancer. There are two types of ultraviolet rays — UVA and UVB. These rays are sometimes linked to various fungal skin infections and contact dermatitis. Using of sunblock and wearing hats and t-shirts can offer a small degree of protection against the sun. Do not tan between 12 noon and 3 pm, as the rays are the most powerful during this period. Apply sunscreen to body parts that are going to be exposed at least half hour before tanning. To get a better result from tanning, get a moderate amount of sun for a number of days, with a maximum of 20 to 30 minutes per day. Tan provides detailed information on Tan, Tan Lines, Self Tan, Sun Tan and more. Tan is affiliated with Lip Piercings. Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin As far as the looks are concerned, the Nokia 6300 looks like a slider phone. However, this is not the fact. The design elements are from Nokia 6111 and Nokia 3230, but it has a different look as compared to other mobile handsets of Nokia. It has a glossy black finish with rounded edges which comes in an attractive steel casing. It has a 2 240 x 320 pixel display, 2 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom, micro SD expandable memory, Bluetooth, a multimedia player, and an FM radio. The internal memory is of 135 Mb. The weight of Nokia 6300 is a meagre 91 grams which makes it bit comfortable to carry. As far as the size goes, a press release by Nokia reveals that its size is less than 13.1 mm thick. But, the technical specification for this mobile phone has mentioned the size as 11.7 mm thick. If you have fully charged your battery, then it can provide you up to 264 hours of standby and can get a talk time of 3.5 hours. Nokia 6300 comes with EDGE technology which will provide you high speed data transfer. It also has a USB connection which can be connected to any compatible device. Apart from this, the Web browser of 6300 enables the users to access XHTML websites. Now, this can be useful when you are away from your office. You can buy this [http://www.ukonlinemarket.co.uk/mobile/Phone_Deal.asp?Ph=Nokia--6300]Nokia 6300 in UK at a price of 160 before the tax and subsidy. Relationship Conflict: 5 Deadly Mistakes and What to Do Instead

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Jeff Herring While conflict in marriage is inevitable, fighting is optional. The secret is in how you approach and handle the conflict. It can make the difference between a really great relationship and a breakup looking for a place to happen. With that notion in mind, let’s take a look at five styles of handling conflict, along with alternative solutions for each. Ready-Fire-Aim These folks are the shooters of conflict. They live by the motto “cross me and you will pay.” Instead of ready-aim-fire, they shoot first and ask questions later. This style causes lots of damage and usually serves to isolate the shooter. Alternative solution: In the words of Stephen Covey, “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” If you take the time to understand someone and that person’s point of view, it’s a whole lot easier to keep your shooter in its holster. Crock potters They let a conflict simmer for a while. Sometimes it can be as harmless as needing to mull things over before handling conflict. At their worst, crock potters simmer and seethe, building resentments, blowing up, or both. Alternative solution: It can be healthy and productive to mull it over before you respond in a conflict. Instead of allowing it to boil over, agree on a time you will sit down together and calmly address the conflict. Me right/you wrong This style of conflict really is as primitive as Tarzan. People who hold tightly to the right to be right can go to just about any length to prove they are right, even to the point of ending the relationship. Alternative solution: Punt. Give up the right to be right. Check out what you might be able to learn from the other point of view, which might even be as valid as your own. Shocking, I realize, but highly possible. The simple truth is that in marriage there are times when you can be right or be happy, but not both. Tomb-ers They elevate the infamous silent treatment to an art form. Conflict arises and they shut down. When you ask what’s wrong, their reply is either “nothing” or “everything’s fine,” but you know better. Alternative solution: Usually tomb-ers have a strong fear of conflict, believing that any conflict will end the relationship. Quite the opposite is true _ not dealing with the conflict can kill the relationship from within. Here are some words to begin with: “Can I tell you what I’m uncomfortable with here?” Historians They remember every fault, mistake and blunder ever made by their partner, including what was said, what you wore and where you were standing at the time. And, they’re more than willing to remind you, in detail. Alternative solution: Get a dry-erase board. Write the current conflict on the blank board. Deal with it. Resolve it. Erase it. Over, done with, gone. I’m guessing that you have identified your partner’s style of conflict. Now, read back through the categories and ask yourself: Which one am I? Free Knitting Patterns and Reusing Old Yarn

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By Brenda Cleland I love finding free knitting patterns and to go along with that I love to save money reusing old yarn. Have you ever looked at a sweater and thought that you don’t like the style anymore but you love the color or the texture of the yarn. Well, I have. Maybe I never really liked it in the first place. Its time to dig out a great free knitting pattern and re-use the yarn. The first thing I do is search through my free knitting pattern collection to find one I like and see if the sweater I am reusing is big enough for the new knitting pattern. First I unstitch the seams. Snip carefully with scissors so you don’t cut through the actual knitting. First you need to find the end where the knitting was cast off. This makes it very easy to just pull and unravel each row. It helps if you have a helper with their hands about a foot apart, or you can use the back of a chair to wind the yarn around. Keep doing this until you come to the end of that piece of yarn. Tie another piece of yarn around the yarn bundle in two places so it doesn’t tangle. This yarn will be very wrinkled, would be difficult to knit with and would give a bumpy texture to your knitting if used like this. I have had some success with washing the yarn in bundles (washable yarn only of course). I wash yarn as usual leaving the yarn dripping wet. I hang the yarn over the back of an old chair outside, or inside in the bath tub in the winter. You can use anything that will hang. A stick across two boxes will work. The weight of the water will unwrinkle the yarn. After it is dry I hand wind the yarn into balls or use my yarn winder. I prefer the yarn winder as it allows the yarn to be pulled from the middle which stops it rolling and catching but if you don’t have one then hand winding it is. Good luck in your knitting The Knitting Nova loves to knit and to collect free knitting patterns. She also loves to blog. She has been collecting free knitting patterns for 30 years and has taught many young family members how knitting is fun and easy. Interest Only Loan Risk

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Eric_Morris]Eric Morris Interest only loans are loans that give you an option to pay just the interest on the loan for an initial period of repayment, say 5 years or 10 years. It also gives the option of paying the interest plus as much principal as you want. There are many advantages of interest only loans. They offer flexibility to repay as much principle as you want. The amount that is not repaid as principle every month can be reinvested elsewhere at higher returns. The returns can be used to pay off the loan when the loan is amortized after the interest-only period. Or, it can be used to pay off another mortgage or a high interest debt like credit cards. Another advantage is the lower initial payment enables you to qualify for a higher loan amount or another loan. Interest only loans are suitable for people who are expecting an increase in the income in coming years, and for people whose income is in the form of indefinite bonuses and commissions. It is also good for people who invest the savings made on interest-only loans properly. However, there are also some risks involved with interest only loans. The interest rate may go up considerably after the interest-only period, significantly increasing the payments to be. This is because most interest only loans are based on adjustable rate mortgages. Another possible risk is people trying to sell the home they mortgaged to repay the loan. The price of the house may not appreciate as much as expected, or it may even come down in value, making the sale and repayment difficult. Loss of income, slump in the economy and other unexpected contingencies are also some things to be considered while going for an interest only loan. Call to Action

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Daniel Wadleigh When creating the “perfect ad,” in addition, to a great “grabber,” an eloquent justification of why you can offer such a good deal and an eye- catching P.S. - there is a component that can make or break the response rate to an ad. It’s called the “Call to Action.” There are two parts to this critical aspect for a effective ad. But, let me start out by saying that this kind of advertising is strictly for “direct response” ads. That is, one from which you want a direct and immediate response. The “other” kind of ads are “image enhancing” ads and have a different purpose - primarily for commodities. The “Call to Action” in direct response ads is responsible for one third of all inquiries. The first part is the directing them as to exactly what you want them to do, and when to do it. “Call today, ask for Susan, and get your free report- call (212) 777-7777 Today!” Depending upon whether your desired response is a phone call or a visit, the second part of the “Call to Action” has been already alluded to in the sample. Give them free information from a third, neutral party that will “help you make an informed decision that will save you time, grief or money.” The consequences of not getting your report have to be painful to them, so load it up. Obviously, the report needs to be both truthful and beneficial to your sales. “Call to Action” becomes “Next Step Marketing,” as fully described elsewhere in this manual. You need to maximize all aspects of your ad in order to maximize your “actions.” Daniel Wadleigh is a nationally published marketing consultant and has programs for start-up and existing businesses including effective web sites, e-mail/database, other non-internet ways to drive them to your website, and low cost ways to get more new customers. Holistic Healthcare versus Traditional Western Medicine

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD The Western medicine community recently asked the question: Will Alternative Healthcare, a.k.a. Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing and Western Medicine (WM) merge? This question implies there is reason to wonder and/or we need to consider the benefits a merger might create. The consideration of merging Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing and Western Medicine is analogues to comparing apples to oranges. The only comparison between apples and oranges is that they are both fruitbut the comparison ends there. Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit Healing and Western Medicine is diametrically polar opposites with nothing in common, except the subject (you). I will explain. In order to understand the ideology of Western Medicine, you need to examine the language used by doctors and researchers. Their choice of words reveals their belief systems and the models they use to understand the way they think healing works. When observing the state of Western Medicine and the unprecedented influence of pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, an interesting paradox arises. The drug companies claim that pharmaceuticals and OTC can do wonders for people: lower cholesterol, end clinical depression, reverse osteoporosis, eliminate allergies, cure cancer, cure MS, calm children and many other similar promises. If prescription or OTC drugs are so good for people, where are all the healthy medicated customers? The truth is, there aren’t, any. There’s nobody taking twelve prescriptions or OTC drugs with a clean bill of health. In fact, the more prescriptions a person takes, the worse their overall health. And if you approach the healthiest people you can find and ask what prescription drugs or OTC drugs they’re taking in order to be so healthy, they’ll give you a confused look: Healthy people don’t take prescription or OTC drugs! This sort of language is not uncommon from researchers in Western Medicine. They perceive the human body as a battleground on which wars are waged against invaders (viruses, bacterial infections and tumors). Beginning with the Victorian era, Western society has become addicted to quick fixes and results with no effort. Western Medicine has in some instances provided this result. When Western Medicine doesnt produce a quick fix result the answer is: Sorry, it couldnt be helpedthe surgery was a success, the patient died. It is interesting to note the AMA reports a dismal success rateapproximately 250,000 people die each year due to misdiagnosis and/or the treatment does little or nothing to improve the persons health. In other words these people didnt die due to an illness they died due to the wrong treatment. Western Medicines theory and doctrines fail to recognize that diseases are not separate from the person. In fact every disease can be more accurately called an expression of the patient’s lifestyle, beliefs, and energies. Cancer is not a tumor, for example: it is a systemic disorder that can only truly be cured by helping to support the body, not by attacking it with chemical bombs or knives. The tumor is merely one physical expression of the systemic disorder, and simply removing the tumor does nothing to cure the disease. The body is designed to heal itselfgiven it has the proper carenutrition, herbal supplements, spiritual and emotional well-being. The body is designed to heal itself provided it has the proper support to do its job. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is based on a concept of balanced qi (pronounced “chee”), or vital energy, that is believed to flow throughout the body. Qi is proposed to regulate a person’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance and to be influenced by the opposing forces of yin (negative energy) and yang (positive energy). Disease is proposed to result from the flow of qi being disrupted and yin and yang becoming imbalanced. Among the components of TCM are herbal and nutritional therapy, restorative physical exercises, meditation, acupuncture, and remedial massage. Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing has existed since the beginning of time amid religious beliefs and practices, along with the mystery, superstition, fear, and misunderstanding. Holistic Healing is now becoming recognized regardless of what anyone chooses to believe or think. Ask almost anyone about their spiritual well-being and they will probably tell you, “Yeah, I am a spiritual person, I go to church frequently. Therein, the confusion arises out of the association of healing with religion. The majority of people, including religious leaders, do not understand the difference. Definition: “HEAL” 1. To restore to health or soundness, 2. To set right, repair, 3. To restore a person to spiritual wholeness, 4. To become whole and sound, to return to health. Definition: “SPIRIT” 1. The vital principle or animating force within living beings, Incorporeal consciousness. There are about twelve more elaborations mostly to do with various religious implications. Definition: “RELIGION” 1. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe, 2. A set of beliefs, values and practices based on the teachings of a religious doctrine. Thus, based on Western Medicines common interpretations of how things ‘ARE’, many paradoxes are created. The resultant effect is confusion and un-wellness. The Truth, as Carl Jung and others have carefully worded in their writing, is this: Every Thing in the universe is Energy and Consciousness. How anyone thinks or feels about that Fact cannot change it. The purpose of All religions is the recognition that humans have a part of themselves that is not physical and there is a need to explore and experience this aspect of themselves. Part of the intent is to discover one’s purpose and to live in the best way possible. Another part of that goal also includes the attainment of Truth and Spiritual Wellness. However, the result of religious teachings with regard to our Spiritual health has been an abysmal failure. If the most important aspect of our being is our Spiritual self, and it has been neglected, it is a miracle we have existed this long. Many churches are in a state of extreme confusion in an attempt to avoid accepting the Truth. The greatest struggle is how to incorporate all the now known knowledge and assimilate it into the religious dogma and theology. The problem is the impossibility of reconciling the obvious flaws in most theology and doctrine. The obvious shortcomings and how political and nationalistic and other special interests and agendas have resulted in a history filled with disappointment, tragedy, confusion and religious wars. In many cultures it has always been thought and/or known that we are spiritual beings, the biggest exception is in western industrialized cultures that we believe we are people who happen to have a soul. Eastern philosophy believes we are a soul first, housed in this thing called a body. The most beautiful and simple interpretation of how everything ‘IS’ can be found in the Native American tradition. “Everything in the universe is Spirit, each thing in it is of the same Spirit and it is all Connected.” This is exactly what we are beginning to understand in science and quantum physics, that everything in the universe is made of the same thing and has a consciousness about it. The two things that frustrate scientists the most is the fact that all thesethings operate across time, space and dimensions they do not yet understand, and the ability of things to operate on inter-dimensional and multi-dimensional levels. A high degree of new understanding about the science and physics of what spiritual really means is now mostly coming from independent researchers. High-tech and aerospace research physicists and scientists, all seem to have a more concise and accurate understanding of Spirit and the Spiritual than those from a theological background. The Reality and The Truth of SpiritIn plain language, there is only One God or Universal Energy that Is Everything. There is only One Consciousness. We are only one individuated expression of The One. All the dogma, theology and religious beliefs anyone chooses to pile on this truth is commonly referred to as Bunk. It is the lack of true knowledge and the application of these distortions, which have been the source of all emotional, physical and spiritual problems. Spirit is alive, it is something that is lived and experienced, the surest way to destroy or suppress it is to organize it and institutionalize it. Spiritual Experiences teach us: Everything we think or feel affects oneself and others. We need to realize every feelinganger, fear, hate, sadness, judgmentare mind generated emotions and need to be modified or eliminated. Left to festeranger, fear, hate, sadness, judgment, creates physical reactions. For every physical reaction, a.k.a. symptomsi.e. colds, cancer, MS, and everything from A to Z, there is a direct link to mind generated emotions. When these mind generated emotions are eliminated and the wounds created from long term and dysfunctional expressions are healed, the physical manifestation labeled as illness by Western Medicine is eliminated. The bottom line is Health and Well-Being is affected by two factionsDoctors and Ministers. Doctors are trained as mechanics who work on the physical mechanism. They are in the Business of Treatment. They are Not Trained in the “Art of Healing”. Most doctors do not even understand the most rudimentary concepts of Healing. Most do not realize how they can produce damage and even induce death sentences on their patients. There is little difference in the effects produced by an intentional damaging curse or a prayer prayed improperly, bad advice or simply some random negative thought. Ministers are trained in traditional theosophical dogmatic perceptions specific to the cultural religious views they ascribe to. Most people have little concept about True Spirituality or how the universe really operates. As a consequence they convey misinformation, half-truths, superstitions and fears along with a multitude of associated damaging information into a person’s consciousness. The result of which is Confusion and Paradoxwhich leads to distress, disease and un-wellness. Both the good in our lives and the dis-eases we have are the results of our experiences, conditioning and beliefs. It is the experiences, conditioning and beliefs that are counter to our true nature that causes the damage. No matter how dire a clients predicament seems to be, I Know if they are Willing to do the emotional and spiritual work of releasing old habits, beliefs and forgiving, everything can be healed. The word incurable used by Western Medicine really only means that the person can not be cured by outer methods and that they must Go Within to effect their healing. The condition was created as a way to copeit came from within and can be healed from within. Reference: Heal Your Body, Louise L. Hay Since Holistic/Metaphysical Healthcare focuses on supporting the Mind, Body, Spirit to heal itself as it is designed to do and Western Medicine perceives the human body as a battleground on which wars are waged with chemical bombs and scalpels against invaders, how can these divergent ideologies be merged? The answer: They cant bei.e. water and vinegar doesnt mixit is metaphysically impossible. Likewise, it is metaphysically impossible to merge Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing and Western Medicine. Anyone who would consider such a merger does not understand the laws of Holistic, Metaphysical, Energy or Mind, Body, Spirit healing. Dorothy M.
